BIRTH SUPPORT
Led by a Registered Nurse, our birth doulas have tremendous expertise and passion for all things birth and while they don’t replace your partner, nurse, midwife, or doctor, they’re a valuable addition to your birthing team.
Whether you’re planning an unmedicated birth, to have an epidural, or electing to have a cesarean birth, your doula from Doulas of Austin will be a constant source of comfort, support, and information.
Our doulas provide tried and true comfort measures specific to labor. They listen to your needs and respond accordingly. For the partner, the doula is a trained professional that guides them in being an active participant during the birth at their comfort level.
Continuous emotional support is the most valuable thing a doula offers and your partner will benefit too. This looks different for every family, but always includes encouragement, compassion and full trust in your power and ability to birth. Our doulas bring trust, peace, and reassurance to your birth, and nurture you with kindness, respect, and dignity as you transition into parenthood.
Our professional birth support includes but is not limited to:
Dedicated doula from start to finish (no on-call rotation!)
Unlimited phone/text/email support from time of hire
24/7 on-call status from 38 weeks of pregnancy

“My water broke 7 weeks early while we were on our baby moon in Austin. My husband contacted Chiminh while I was in labor in hopes she could help us. She walked into our delivery room not knowing anything about my pregnancy or me. Somehow, she magically got me as close to my birth plan as possible with a premature birth 1,500 miles away from home. She helped me feel confident in my choices during a very scary situation where I thought I had no say.”

“Birth is not only about making babies. Birth is about making mothers. Strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength.”
— Barbara Katz Rothman, PhD
